William Zaccarello Obituary

William Zaccarello passed away at the age of 96, on Saturday, May 9th at Raritan Bay Hospital in Old Bridge, from Covid19.

William was born in Bayonne, NJ to Frank and Margaret Zaccarello.  Bill, as he was known to all, was a veteran of World War II where he served in Colorado in the Military Police guarding prisoners of war.  Bill was very proud of his service to his country and the Army.

After his discharge in 1945, he worked at the Solar Factory in Bayonne where he met his loving wife of 68 years, Rose.  After their marriage, the couple moved to Staten Island where they lived among family until they moved to North Brunswick, NJ in 1996. In 1953, Bill began working at PSE & G as a boiler repairman and welder. He worked there for 27 years until his retirement in 1980.

While on Staten Island Bill and his wife were parishioners of St. Roch’s Roman Catholic Church and later St. Cecilia’s Church of Monmouth Junction, NJ.

Bill was a self-educated man who lived for his family. His happiest days were spent with his wife and when the whole family was gathered together.

Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Rose, his sister Mary Mane, his son in law, Andrew Choban and his beloved grandson, Andrew Choban III. He is survived by his daughters, Roberta Choban from Miami, Florida and Rosemary Schutz and her husband Michael of Ocean, NJ. He is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Mary Choban, Allison Filella and her husband Robert, Christie Schutz-Vincelli and her husband Tommy and Michael Schutz Jr. and his wife Jenee. He also leaves his 8 great grandchildren to continue his legacy.

Donations in memory of Bill can be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Society.
