Ruth M. Bell (Smith), 96, of Milltown passed away on Saturday June 29, 2024, at Parker at Somerset, New Jersey.  

One of nine children, Ruth grew up in Stelton and New Brunswick during the Great Depression. She married in 1947 and after the premature death of her husband she moved from New Brunswick to Milltown in 1962 with her children.  

A loving wife and mother, Ruth dedicated her life to her family. As a young widow she met the challenges of raising her three children as a single mom.  

During her lifetime Ruth was employed by Gary Manufacturing Co. in New Brunswick, Personal Products in Milltown and Boy Scouts USA and First Fidelity Bank in North Brunswick, New Jersey. 

Ruth is predeceased by her husband, Frank Bell, her parents James and Mary (Hardy) Smith, and her grandson Michael Servon. Also, her sisters Ann Armstrong, Irene Suydam, Joyce Zigler, Rose Murray,  Lucille Harris, and her brother James Smith.  

Ruth is survived by her three children, Marion Servon and Ruth Ann Shalayda of Milltown, George Bell  and his wife Elizabeth of North Brunswick, her sisters Helen Makowski of Spotswood and Judith Pastore  of Virginia. 

Ruth is also survived by the grandchildren she adored, Richard and Tracy Servon of Milltown, Jennifer  Legovich & her husband Brian of Milltown and Christopher and Katie Bell of North Brunswick and her six  great-grandchildren Nicholas, Chase, Emily, Amelia, Vivian, and Emma. 

Services will be private.
