Robert James Kearns

Robert James Kearns, 70, of Monmouth Junction, New Jersey, formerly of Staten Island, NY, died peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Robert battled cancer in a manner that astounded many, never complaining and always going to his job each day. Finally, after 4 years, and years of chemo, his body had had enough and he grew too weary to fight any longer.

Born and raised in Staten Island New York, he was a Vietnam Veteran who served in the US Navy from 1968 to 1972 stationed out on the west coast of California where he was trained as a diesel mechanic on Coronado Island with Assault Craft Unit One. He served on the USS Cabildo during a tour of duty overseas. He was a true family man and enjoyed all his friends that he made along the way... during his journey through life. He had a real zest for life and a great sense of humor. He was kind and compassionate and so proud of those close to him.

When he left the service, he and Lynn moved to New Jersey in 1977 where they still reside. Robert's last place of employment was with the North Brunswick Township Board of Education, Transportation Department, where he was a school bus driver for nearly seven years. He took pride in his job and worked right up until the very end of his life.

He is survived by his Beloved wife of 50 years, Lynn Kearns; His love son, Wyatt and their little dog, Tully O’Riley.

A Celebration of Life, Memorial Tribute will take place on Saturday, September 21, 2019 from 2 and 4 pm at Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home, 152 North Main Street in Milltown, NJ. 08850.
