Phil was born in Port Arthur, TX to Harry and Isabelle (née Thomas) Abadie.  She graduated from Redemptorist Girls HS in New Orleans, LA.  During WWII she was employed by The Aeronautical Administration at New Orleans International Airport.  It was in New Orleans that she met her husband James, who was stationed there with the US Navy.  Phil retired from Rutgers University in 1989 after 25 years of service.  She was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Altar Rosary Society, the Rutgers Silver Knights, AARP Chapter #3885, the Milltown Senior Citizens Club, and the Suburban Artists Guild of East Brunswick.  She also sang with the “Milltones” Chorale Group of Milltown.  Phil was an artist who loved to paint and draw in a variety of mediums and was the proud recipient of many awards for her work.

She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, James in 2013.  They loved to travel in the US, and especially loved visiting the casinos in Atlantic City! Phil was also predeceased by two sisters: Lila King and Mildred Schmidt and brother Kenneth Abadie.  She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law Alice and Roger Ferguson of Vero Beach, FL; sister Roberta DuFour of Port Arthur, TX; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
