Mildred F. (Keeley) Moriggia Obituary

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Mildred Frances Moriggia, age 90, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Millie, as most knew her, was born in Manhattan, grew up in Washington Heights, and then spent most of her life with her children and grandchildren in New Jersey.

She was the matriarch of the family; selfless, nurturing, and a great storyteller. Her greatest joy in life was caring for and watching all generations of her family grow. Anybody that was around her for long enough to spark up a conversation would likely know exactly how many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and recently great-great children she had. She truly enjoyed taking care of others and spoiling her many grandchildren. She loved helping her family around the house, and holding every baby she could.

She was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Old Bridge, NJ for many years. She volunteered her time at Monsignor Behl Aid Society (formerly St. Vincent de Paul), also in Old Bridge, and was part of the Rosary Society.

She is predeceased by her parents, James J. Keeley and Mildred (née Lawton) Keeley; her siblings, James Keeley; Dorothy Keeley; Patricia Faro; Eleanor Robins; William Keeley; her children, Annamarie Lio Schurley; Mildred Moriggia; Lester Moriggia; Nancy Mardini.

She is survived by her brother John Keeley; her children Lillian Moriggia; Charlotte Fantry; Michael Moriggia; Carol Kassabian; Elizabeth Christiansen; 33 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, but was also like a second mother to her predeceased daughter, Annamarie’s children; Jessica Lio; Amanda Mateo; Andrea Lio; Christina Lio; Cassandra Lio Cosgrove; Laura Lio Kahn; and Giovanni Lio.

Viewing will be on Wednesday, December 14th, at Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home from 12-2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m., at 152 North Main Street, Milltown, NJ 08850. A mass service will be held on Thursday, December 15th at St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Old Bridge at 9 a.m. with a burial service following at Forest Green Park Cemetery in Morganville. Donations in her honor can be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Church or the Altar Rosary Society.
