Michael D. Landis 

July 4, 1950 - January 30, 2021 (age 70) 

Michael D. Landis passed away on January 30, 2021 at the age of 70. Mike was a devoted son of the late Anne M. Landis and Edward D. Landis and was born on July 4, 1950 in Fairbanks, Alaska. Being the son of a member of the United States Air Force Mike spent a considerable portion of his youth living in several locations throughout the country, residing in Alaska, California, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Oklahoma and Texas. He eventually settled with his family in New Jersey and spent his adult years living as a shore resident in Monmouth County. Like his father, Mike was also a proud member of the military service, having enlisted in the United States Navy, where he was deployed for much of his time on active duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid.  Following his military service Mike completed his college education at Villanova University, where he graduated in 1972. After college Mike attended the University of Akron School of Law and received his juris doctorate degree in 1977. He would later open his own law office in Brielle, New Jersey, where he faithfully and tirelessly worked for 41 years to serve the interests of his numerous clients, whom he also considered his friends. As an attorney he had a keen sense of responsibility in helping others in need that were less fortunate and often in difficult circumstances. Mike was an avid reader with a particular interest in history and works of non-fiction. He was often known to read a lengthy book, cover-to-cover, in a matter of days. Despite keeping extremely busy with the practice of law Mike would also find time to enjoy watching Philadelphia sports teams, including the Phillies, Flyers, 76ers and especially the Eagles. He could talk endlessly about sports trivia. His loyalty to the Eagles was finally rewarded in February of 2018 when, after many lean years, they were finally crowned world champions, something Mike enjoyed immensely. Mike is survived by his brother, J. Peter Landis, of Birdsboro, Pennsylvania. Memorial contributions may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation (www.michaeljfox.org) or The Parkinson’s Foundation (www.parkinson.org).  Arrangements are being handled by Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home in Milltown, New Jersey.  No memorial services are currently scheduled. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
