Marie E. Sotak of New Brunswick, NJ passed away peacefully on October 8, 2019 at Parker at Monroe. She was 95 years old. Marie was born and raised in New Brunswick, NJ and was a lifelong resident of the city she loved. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Grammar School and St. Peter’s High School. Marie was employed as an operator by the telephone company and was later employed and retired as a deputy clerk for the City of New Brunswick. She worked for many clerks during her time with the City, one notably being William Cahill. Marie married Joseph Sotak in 1946 and lived on Edgeworth Place for 62 years. She loved to read and enjoyed the seashore, but spent her most precious time with her beloved family. She was a great mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and grandmother. Marie was the life of the party and had a great sense of humor and kindness that endeared her to many. She spent her last years enjoying life with her friends and community at Parker at Monroe. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Predeceased by her beloved husband, the late Joseph Sotak, Marie is survived by son and daughter-in-law Joseph and Ruth Sotak, daughters and sons-in-law Anne and James Schademann and Joanne and Bruce Morbit, and daughter Esther O’Brien. Family and friends will be received Friday 4-8pm at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church followed by interment at St. Peters Cemetery, New Brunswick.
