Kathleen A. McGovern, 48, of Edison, passed away Sunday, November 26th surrounded by loved ones.

Kathy graduated with a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Rowan University and worked as a special education teacher at the Lakeview School in Edison for 24 years, the last two in her true passion as a reading teacher.  Since her teenage years, she has been involved with youth events through Monmouth Presbytery, specifically the Presbyterian Youth Triennium.  Kathleen was a light to all who knew her. She enjoyed game nights, reading, spending time with her family, attending concerts, and traveling. She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Marilyn McGovern. Surviving are her brother Dan McGovern of Quakertown, PA and sister Chrissie McGovern of Washington, NJ. Also surviving are her sister-in-law Kim Bremer and best friend Regina Murphy of Edison, NJ, aunts Maureen McGinley of Spring Lake, NJ and Patricia McGill of Vernon, NJ as well as many cousins.

Family and friends will be received Wednesday 3:00pm - 8:00pm at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown, NJ.  The funeral service will be celebrated Thursday 10:30am at the funeral home followed by burial at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, NJ.
