Jose Manuel Torres Madera of Somerset, NJ passed away on September 13, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was 51 years old.  Born in the Dominican Republic, he was a longtime resident of Somerset.  Jose was a parishioner of St. Mary of Mount Virgin, New Brunswick, NJ.  Jose lived life joyfully; he always told stories and joked and made sure everyone had a smile on their face.  He enjoyed planting fruit and vegetable plants, family picnics, and playing dominoes with his friends. Jose loved traveling to the Dominican Republic, riding dirt bikes while there, and he enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the country, especially the mountains.  Jose believed the more knowledge one possesses, the more possibilities open.  He valued above all the precious time he spent with his beloved family and friends.  Jose was a great husband, father, and friend.

Predeceased by his parents Secundina and Marcelo Madera, Jose is survived by his beloved wife Ana Hilda Urena de Torres, children: Madeline Torres Urena, Anderson Torres Urena, and Anayelis Torres Urena; and siblings: Felix Azcona, Agustina Fernandez, Angela Melendez, Marcelina Torres, Juan Manual Torres, Maria Torres, and Roberto Madera.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday 4:00pm – 8:00pm at the Bronson and Guthlein Funeral Home of Milltown, NJ.  The funeral service will be celebrated Wednesday 11:00am at the funeral home followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
