Irene M.Petty (née Doll) went home to God on August 23, 2024. She was briefly a resident of Rose Mountain Care Center in New Brunswick, NJ. Previously, Irene was a resident of Highland Park, NJ for 47 years.
Irene was born in Jersey City, NJ to Frederick and Sophie Doll. After the death of her father in 1965, her mother married Frank Guise in 1967, and he became a loving step-father to Irene. Irene was affectionately called Honey by her mom. Irene graduated from Cranford High School in 1954. She played the accordion sketched pictures as two of her hobbies.
Irene worked as store manager for Anthony’s Music in Edison, NJ, assistant store manager for Wurlitzer Music Stores in Livingston, NJ, and at Freehold Music Center.
Besides music, Irene loved shopping, crafting, painting, and her beloved cats – Bootsie, Lily, and Bright Eyes. She volunteered at the Highland Park Senior Center where she also shared her love of crafting.
Irene and her former husband Richard J. Petty had three children. Irene loved her children, family, and friends very much. Irene is survived by her daughter Irene Murt and her husband Robert, her son Richard, and her son John and his wife Carolyn. She is also survived by her granddaughter Jacklene Cupples and her husband Clinton and their children. In addition, Irene was a Godmother and dear friend to many. She will be missed.
Funeral services are private under the direction of the Bronson and McNamara Memorial Home of Milltown, NJ.
