Betty Fischer Obituary

Betty Belansky Fischer, 87, of South Brunswick, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on April 25, 2026.

Born on February 13, 1939, in Manhattan, New York, Betty was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (née Cloveckova) Belansky. At a young age, she moved with her family to East Brunswick, where she helped her parents run an egg farm—an experience that sparked her lifelong love of animals, especially chickens.

Betty graduated from South River High School in 1957, where she was known as an avid bowler. She carried her strong work ethic throughout her life, dedicating many years to her career as a secretary. She worked for Carter Wallace, the former Boy Scouts of America headquarters in North Brunswick, and later for the law offices of D’Amico & Cofone and Frank Cofone, Esq. in New Brunswick.

Betty met the love of her life, Matthew G. Fischer, Jr., at a Bible study, and they were married on May 6, 1961. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and shared dreams. Betty supported Matthew through college, and the couple eventually built their custom home in South Brunswick from the ground up. Their property became lovingly known as “Fischer’s Park,” filled with unique landscaping, a thriving garden, and the presence of wandering chickens.

Betty and Matthew shared a passion for travel, exploring destinations across the globe and instilling that same sense of adventure in their children. Family life was rich with cherished memories—ice skating in winter, summer barbecues, midnight swims, sledding, hiking, and biking. They also enjoyed day trips, fireworks displays, and time spent with friends, always finding joy in simple pleasures and projects around their home.

Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband of 58 years, Matthew G. Fischer, Jr. She is survived by her loving son, Mark Fischer of South Brunswick; her daughter, Deborah Bolduc, and her husband Jean of Frenchtown; her sister, Rebecca Nagy of East Brunswick; her nephew, Thomas Nagy; her niece, Shannon Fischer; her cherished grandson, Benoit Bolduc; and her faithful dog, Coco.

Betty will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
