Ann V Apoldite Obituary
Ann Apoldite (nee Vignuolo) peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, December 15, 2023, after an extended illness at home, with her two loving sons by her side. She was 86.
Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey on June 27, 1937, Ann attended Saint Mary’s of Mount Virgin elementary school in New Brunswick. In 1955, after graduating from Saint Peter’s High School in New Brunswick, she went to work for Winarick in New Brunswick, New Jersey as a sales secretary and then worked at the Okonite Company in North Brunswick. She subsequently left to raise her children.
After rearing her two sons, Ann attended and graduated from Trenton State College in Ewing, New Jersey in 1975 with a B.A. in Elementary Education (Italian and English Certification). She then taught Spanish for a couple of years at Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School in Milltown, New Jersey.
In 1977 she began to work as an elementary school teacher and reading specialist at Chester A. Redshaw Elementary School in New Brunswick. In 1982 she graduated from Trenton State College with a Master’s Degree in Reading. She retired from teaching in 2002.
Ann was a communicant, lector, CCD teacher and Eucharistic Minister at Saint Mary’s of Mount Virgin Church in New Brunswick (now Parish of the Visitation). She was also a member of the church choir; the Associates of Saint Lucy Filippini; the Saint Ann’s Society; and the school PTA. She was a devout Roman Catholic who had a profound faith in, and love for, the Eternal Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and the Holy Family. She believed that God, family and friends were the three most important things in life, and often prayed the Rosary with her family, as well as with friends in the Associates of Saint Lucy Filippini. In June 2010 she and her husband, Carl, proudly celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary date of May 21, 1960.
Ann enjoyed singing in the church choir, especially during Christmas; listening to recording artists such as Perry Como, Dean Martin, Bobby Vinton and Rosemary Clooney; tutoring her students and taking them on class trips; crocheting; taking cruises; visiting Kittery, Maine and Cap Cod, Atlantic City, Wildwood and Cape May; attending baseball games at Yankee Stadium and Veterans Stadium; visiting Disney World; and cooking pasta on Sundays.
Ann was predeceased by her father, Biagio Vignuolo, in 1986; her mother, Elena Carleo, in 2007; her brother, Peter Vignolo, in 2016; and her loving husband of almost sixty years, Carl Apoldite Jr., in 2020.
Ann is survived by her two sons, Carl and Blaise Apoldite, with whom she lived in Milltown, New Jersey; her brother, Vincent Vignuolo, and his wife, Veronica, of Roosevelt, New Jersey; her brother, Anthony Vignuolo, and his wife, Cynthia, of Cranbury, New Jersey; her brother, Biag Vignolo, and his wife, Jacqueline, of Naples, Florida; a sister-in-law, Penny Lamont, of Hamilton, New Jersey; and several nieces and nephews.
Ann was a loving mother, sister and aunt, and a loyal friend to all. May she rest in peace until those whom she loved—and those who loved her—are reunited with her, never to be separated by time or space again.
Friends and family may visit on Wednesday December 20, 2023 from 8:00am - 10:30am. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am at Parish of the Visitation, New Brunswick, NJ. Mass will be celebrated by Monsignor Dennis Apoldite. Entombment to follow at St. Peters Cemetery.
